Our pharmacy at Prairie View Animal Hospital carries various medications, diets, and parasite preventatives. We carry a broad array of medications commonly used to treat ailments in our pets. We also dispense many prescription diets, including gastrointestinal, skin, and kidney diets, to our patients. Parasite preventatives, such as heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, have become an important part of routine medical care for our dogs and cats. Call us to discuss which preventatives are appropriate for your pet.

For your convenience, we also offer home delivery of many pet foods (routine diets and prescriptions diets) and medications. Like you, our lives are busy, constantly driving from one activity to the next. We understand your busy schedule. It’s easy to forget to stop by the vet’s office for your pet’s medications and food when you have errands to run and kids’ activities to juggle. Obtain your pet’s food and medications through our hand-picked, trusted source. Have peace-of-mind knowing that the medications and food delivered to your home are sourced, shipped and stored properly. The products that you purchase through our home delivery program are guranteed by us, something you won’t find with big-box stores or online pharmacies. All products are also available to “auto ship” meaning you don’t have to worry about running out of food or medications. It’s delivered when you need it. One less thing to worry about.

We understand the difficulties of administering medications to your pets. Although we may have the appropriate medication for your pet’s illness, the treatment will not work if you are unable to administer the medication at home. To alleviate the stress of giving a pill to your pet, we also work closely with outside pharmacies to provide other methods of medicating your pets.

We do not directly deal with outside internet pharmacies. To learn more about internet pharmacies, click here. At your request, we can provide you with an authorized prescription that you can use at the pharmacy of your choice. An annual examination is required for all prescription refills, including medications which you purchase from internet pharmacies. You can also call us at 515-986-2841, or request a refill using the contact form.

There are many reputable internet pharmacies that are accredited through the Vet-VIPPS program. But many illegal internet pharmacies exist. Visit the FDA warning about online pharmacies here before you purchase medications for your pets through the internet. For more information on prescriptions and pharmacies, click here.
