Hello. My name is Dr. Jaime Stearns. I’m originally from Colorado where I attended Colorado State University. I earned a B.S.in Microbiology from CSU in 2010 and an M.S. in Biomedical Sciences from CSU in 2011. Throughout my undergraduate studies, I worked as a veterinary technician and volunteered with several animal shelters. These jobs enforced my love for animals and led me to pursue a career in Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University.

While attending ISUs Veterinary Program, I studied small animal medicine. I also worked as a teaching assistant in the anatomy lab and worked in several laboratories studying the gastrointestinal system and the knee joint (stifle). I graduated with my DVM in 2015. I met my husband while in veterinary school. Since we both wanted to stay in Iowa, I stayed at ISU to complete a small animal rotating internship with a focus in emergency medicine. After completion of my internship, I decided that I preferred building relationships with my clients and their pets and pursued small animal general practice.

I am currently a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the Iowa Veterinary Medical Association (IVMA). I live with my husband and our rescue dog/retriever mix in Grimes, IA. In my “freetime” I enjoy hiking, running, rock climbing, painting, and crafting. I also dress up as a superhero to help out with children’s charities from time to time. I look forward to getting to know you and your pets.
